On December 1-2, 2025, a workshop organized by Florian Wagner is dedicated to the question of voluntariness and migration and return across and beyond colonial empires. The event is held at the University of Erfurt, among other contributions with a keynote lecture by Dónal Hassett.
About Florian
Florian Wagner holds a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence and is Assistant Professor at the Chair of Modern and Contemporary History and History Didactics, University of Erfurt. He specializes in the history of repatriation and remigration and was a fellow at GHI-West, affiliated with the University of California, Berkeley, working on the “Migration and Knowledge” program. He has also published on the history of colonialism and postcolonialism. His book on Colonial Internationalism and the Governmentality of Empire has been published in 2021 by Cambridge University Press.
