About Meike

Meike Katzek holds a B.A. in International Relations and History and a M.A. in Transcultural History at the University of Erfurt. She is currently working towards her PhD in the field of the history of science on a project entitled “Anti-Anti-Science” as a research assistant at the University of Erfurt. She has supported the Research Unit on Voluntariness as a Student Assistant from 2020 to 2023.

Twilight Areas of Voluntariness

On December 6, 2022, our project team working on voluntariness and dictatorship organized a panel discussion with fellow historians in Erfurt. The discussion revealed some powerful possibilities as well as some grey areas of voluntariness as theme and concept.

Workshop on “Moral History” – Evening Talk and Panel Discussion

On December 4 and 5, 2025, a workshop will be focusing on “moral history.” An evening lecture on Thursday will be held on the topic “Ökonomien der Moral.” At a panel discussion on Friday morning, we will address the question: “The Historian as Reflexive Moral Subject. New Challenge or New Normal?”

Workshop – Reflect Yourself!?

On July 13 and 14, 2023, the workshop titled “Reflect yourself!?” will take place at the University of Erfurt. Exploring the research field of public history and its potential for (self)reflection in historical scholarship, both established scholars, junior researchers and students come together to discuss the topic in regard to their daily work and historical research.
