About Hannah

Hannah Schilling is a postdoctoral Research Associate at the Chair of Political Sociology, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, and Co-Investigator in the Research Unit on Voluntariness. Her research focuses on new forms of work and value-making in the digital economy, global urban sociology, and comparative research. Among her recent publications is “Working Precarity: Urban Youth Tactics to Make Livelihoods in Unstable Conditions in Abidjan, Athens, Berlin and Jakarta” (in The Sociological Review 2019, co-authored by Talja Blokland and Abdoumaliq Simone).
